Listings
Here are all the technical specifications that you should meet when listing your products on PriceRunner. If you have any questions, the PriceRunner Operations team will be happy to help you.
A data feed is a text format file containing all product information. For us to be able to use the feed it has to fulfill the below requirements:
- Text format: The file has to be in text format, such as .xml, .txt, .csv, .html, .php or .asp. Please note that the data feed cannot be submitted in Microsoft Excel .xsl format or any other non-text formats.
- FTP or HTTP address location: PriceRunner requires an FTP or HTTP address location from which to collect your file (ftp://pricerunner:password@ftp.homepage.com or www.homepage.com/pricerunner.csv). This will be imported on a daily basis. If you don't have a server where you can post the data, please contact PriceRunner Operations and we'll help you find other ways of making your feed accessible to us.
- Keep the feed URL and feed name unchanged: Don't include dates, times or other naming conventions in the URL or feed name. The URL and feed name should always remain the same.
- Use one of the following encodings for the feed: iso-latin-1, iso-8859-1 or utf-8.
- Make sure that the data feed contains current prices.
- Don't include any HTML markup within the data feed, as this will delay the processing of the feed and your listing on PriceRunner.
- Check category specific requirements (see below).
- Please make sure your feed has a minimum of 50 products. Any fewer, and your feed will be classed as 'limited', which may cause an error or for your feed to be deactivated. Any questions, your account manager will be happy to help.
Below is a list of all the information fields that can be contained in the feed. Please note that:
- The order in which these fields are shown is not the order they should appear in the feed. Please follow the 'sample product feed' provided for the preferred feed structure.
- The first 8 fields below are REQUIRED, and are marked in bold.
- The 6th, 8th and 18th fields are required for the auto-matching of products.
- The 10th field (ISBN) is required for book retailers
- The 11th and 12th fields are very important for 'free text' products like clothing and jewellery. We don't compare free text products with the cheapest price first; instead, we display them in a grid or list view.
