Type
There are five varieties of printers: dot matrix (older technology, high volume, lesser printing quality), inkjets (high quality prints considering the price, with good colour print outs), laser printers (high quality and small cost per print out in black and white),LED (Light Emitting Diode)and dye sublimation (main difference between this and other types of printing has to do with heat In dye-sublimation printing, colors are not laid down as individual dots). It is usual to find inkjet printers at home while LED/laser printers are more common in the office. Dot matrix printers are excellent for label writing or when the printer has to "hit through" double copies, for example carbon paper.

Shows if the Printer can print in colour.
Photo Printer
A photo printer is a colour printer that can produce images that mimic the colour range (gamut) and resolution of prints made from photographic film. Many can be used autonomously without a computer, with a memory card or USB connector.
Duplex Printing
A duplex printer can write on both sides of the paper.
