The Bosch GSN36VW30G is a fantastic tall freestanding freezer with a massive capacity, awesome features and an A ++ energy rating to keep your bills right down. UK buyers would be mad not to have this on their Christmas wishlist.
This offering from Bosch has dimensions of 186 cm (H) x 60 cm (W) x 65 cm (D) and a storage capacity of a sizeable 237 litres – enough to see your family through a long winter. Inside you get an ice cube tray and seven well-designed, sturdy drawers. You also get a glittering array of cool features (excuse the pun): it’s frost-free, meaning you won’t have to put aside time for the agonising chore of defrosting; it has an LED thermostat for accurate temperature control; it has a door open alert to let you know if it’s not shut properly; a temperature warning light; two massive storage boxes for joints of meat and other big items; and ‘fast freeze’ for blasting items that have been thawing in your shopping bags.
At the ‘make or break’ business end of things – i.e. freezing – we find the Bosch GSN36VW30G really excels. The thermostat is accurate while the freezer is quick, powerful, and maintains low temperatures whatever the weather. And if you’re looking to do your bit for the environment and maybe save a few pennies here or there, the A ++ energy rating is excellent and at least a rung higher than most of the competition. With just 42 decibels generated (about 20-30 less than the average conversation) the unit is pretty quiet as well.
If you had to be picky, this model is designed to survive a 12 hour power outage before the food starts to spoil – quite a bit less than average for a model of this size and price tag. But in all other respects this is a very decent freezer indeed.
- Freezes quickly and well
- No manual defrosting
- A ++ Energy Rating saves you money
- Door hard to open
- No interior light
Why you should buy it:
freezing extremely well. It may cost a bit more than average but the A ++ Energy Rating will soon have it paying for itself!
