Indesit’s UIAA12 is a decent tall freestanding freezer with a massive storage capacity and is both cheap to purchase and to run, too. It freezes well and has a few handy features.
The freezer has dimensions of 175 (H) x 60 cm (W) x 65 cm (D) and an internal storage capacity of 235 litres across seven compartments. That’s apparently 13 full shopping bags’ worth of food – enough for even the largest and hungriest of families. The compartments are made up of five differently-sized drawers (two are extra deep) and two spaces behind drop down flaps. You get a few nice features such as the temperature warning light that lets you know if you’ve left the door open too long or if your thermostat needs adjusting. If there’s a power cut there’s a power failure safe storage time of 13 hours – not as long as some freezers, but enough to make sure your food will survives the outage. There are also three integrated ice cube trays – perfect for a cocktail party.
For a relatively cheap model you quite a bit of bang for your buck. Not only it is fairly large, but it’s also powerful and can handle bulk loads with aplomb – freezing full loads effectively within 24 hours. The energy efficiency rating is A + which means lower bills over time. And producing just 44 decibels of noise (the average conversation is between 60 and 70 decibels) it’s quite quiet as well.
You will need to manually defrost this freezer, and be warned that this may require more care than with other models. At least one customer has found defrosting can cause water to leak behind the control panel, causing a short that might not be recoverable.
- Freezes well
- Energy efficient (A + rating)
- Maintains a good temperature
- Needs manual defrosting
- No fast-freeze
- No interior light
Why you should buy it:
For the size, low price, low running costs and excellent freezing abilities, the Indesit UIAA12 is definitely worth UK buyers putting on their shortlist, even if it does lack features.
