If you’re in the market for an elegant, tall, slimline freezer that can be kept in the garage and kitchen alike – one that freezes brilliantly and doesn’t require manual defrosting – then keep in mind the Beko TFF577APW.
Beko’s offering here has dimensions of 177 cm (H) x 54.5 cm (W) x 60 cm (D) and a decent internal capacity of 196 litres across seven separate drawers – not bad for a slimline model. It’s not exactly chockfull of all the latest technology, but it does have some useful features including a temperature warning light for when items are starting to thaw, and Freezer Guard – meaning that the freezer itself is protected from extreme heat or cold. It can withstand lows of -15oC which makes it perfect for keeping in a garage. It’s less capable at coping with higher temperatures however, with 32oC the upper limit.
The TFF577APW also comes with an ice cube tray and apparently a “Fast Freeze” function for giving newly-bought items a quick blast of cold. However, on closer inspection what they mean by this is that you have to manually adjust the thermostat to the max and then later remember to return it to its original position. It’s a bit like claiming a car has a burglar alarm, but then requiring you to sit in the back seat all night with a whistle. But one awesome feature we can’t quibble with is that it’s frost-free – meaning no tedious manual defrosting.
The four-star freezer rating means that this freezer really does the business when it comes to its main job of freezing food. It’s pretty quick at it too and maintains a nice steady temperature. At 42 decibels the TFF577APW is quiet and its A + energy rating ensures that it won’t contribute to a big electricity bill at the end of the month.
- Freezes perfectly
- Energy Efficiency Rating of A +
- No manual defrosting required
- “Fast freeze feature” deceptive
- Power failure safe storage of only 10 hours
- Hard to read manual
Why you should buy it:
If you’re a UK buyer and want a relatively cheap tall freezer with good capacity and excellent freezing abilities – one that doesn’t require manual defrosting and is inexpensive to run – the Beko TFF577APW could be the model for you.
