The Lec U50052W is a cracking little tabletop freezer – perfect for small kitchens or as an “overspill” freezer for another, bigger unit. With an A + energy rating and a bargain-basement price tag, there’s much to like.
The U50052W is a compact piece of kit with dimensions of just 49.2 cm (H) x 47.2 cm (W) x 45 cm (D) – low in height and in price. Inside you get 31 litres of net freezer capacity, one wire shelf and an ice cube tray. The door is reversible if you want it to open in the same direction as the doors of your other devices. The diminutive size mean it’s best for singles or couples or as an additional freezer if your other one is running out of space.
Although not exactly heaving with features – it is a compact budget model after all – it does have a temperature warning light to tell you to shut the door or adjust the thermostat. And if you’re unlucky enough to experience a power cut you should get ten hours of safe storage before your items begin to thaw out.
Finally, it’s fairly quiet – emitting 45 decibels. The average conversation generates up to 70 decibels (depending on how extroverted the talkers). This should mean you can pop it on the counter without it driving you too crazy. And the A + Energy Rating should mean running costs of not much more than 5p a day.
- Freezes well
- Relatively quiet
- A + Energy Rating
- Requires manual defrosting
- Not exactly bursting with features
- No interior light
Why you should buy it:
This is a nice little compact freezer that freezes well and won’t cost the UK buyer an arm and a leg. It’s not going to set the world alight but it does a very decent job for the price.
