Summary
The product worked for two years and then the freezing function ceased because of ice-build up at the back of the freezer- Four Indesit service engineers tried to resolve it - one even admitting that Hotpoint used poor quality parts and this model was problematic to start with. For the privilege of their visits I had to take out a year long service policy that cost almost 150 pounds (a single visit is £90 plus otherwise) - I lost lots of frozen food - Hotpoint will not compensate and neither will their repair protection plan. They had the cheek to offer me the same model at a reduced price - I will steer clear of all Hotpoint products from now and actively urge others to do the same.
I am seriously out of pocket and have no recourse to any compensation except a feeble verbal apology from Hotpoint customer service

- What are the strengths?
- There are no strengths to report neither in the product nor in the customer service or servicing arrangements
- What are the weaknesses?
- The product has clear design faults and I would suggest that you read the problems that many other consumers have experienced with it on Refrigeration-Engineer.com - the basic issue is that there is an ice build which throws the sensor which is poorly located and this in turn has triggered a gas leak in the case of mine which is unrepairable.

Poor customer service
Summary
The customer service is appalling! The call out charge for an Indesit engineer over12months old is 104.98. Indesit requested payment over the phone when booking the appointment!
As the fridge-freezer was deemed unrepairable we have to buy a new one. Indesit offered us a 45.00 discount. The combined cost will be over 400.00 which, if this is a rogue fridge-freezer is unreasonable - why do we have to pay so dearly to replacea fridge-freezer whose insulation should not have perished in so short a time?

- What are the strengths?
- Fridge and freezer worked fine for nearly 16months.
- What are the weaknesses?
- The insulation completely disintegrated meaning that the fridge was not receiving cool air. It was practically warm in the fridge - we had to put mik outside to keep it cool.
