Summary
Having read other peoples view on dysons the most common is that they are heavy and noisy my opinion is that it is not the lightest of things when it's on but thats only because its power in picking up dirt and they really aren't that noisy I guess it just the noise of all the air spinning round. This machine picks up dirt that you dont even know is in the carpet, it does the job and if you search the internet you can get one at a reasonable price. I wouldn't have anything other than a dyson.

- What are the strengths?
- this dyson is really good, it sturdy and looks well built, the attatchments are easy to use and it doesn't loose suction, the allergy side of it is brilliant. It gets right up to the edges and you can really see the dirt. I would tell everyone who gets one to use it on the matress and you'll be shocked to see what else is in your bed with you! It's quieter than other vacuums I've used and it does a great job. It's better than other older models and picks up more dirt. The brush control switch is also useful especially in the kitchen and bathroom.
- What are the weaknesses?
- The bin is slightly on the small side and so you need to empty it more that usual but that's only because its so powerful that it picks up dirt that you didn't know was there.

Which similar products have you used?
I previously had a Dyson DC4 - and to be honest I wasn't too impressed with. Motor burnt out a few times, so was a little unsure whether or not to buy another Dyson. But I always liked the way the tools are.
Summary
ONCE USED A FEW TIMES AND YOU ARE USED TO THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOUR OLD AND YOUR NEW MODEL YOU'LL BE REALLY PLEASED WITH IT I'M SURE. I KNOW I AM GLAD I BOUGHT ANOTHER. I DO FEEL THOUGH THAT THE MATERIALS USED ARE OF A SOMEWHAT CHEAPER/INFERIOR STANDARD AND AM THEREFORE CONCERNED THAT THE CONNECTONS FOR TOOLS ETC. WILL WEAKEN QUICKER THAN MY PREVIOUS DYSON - BUT DYSON ARE GREAT AT CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND I'M NOT TOO CONCERNED THAT THEY WON'T REPLACE ANYTHING THAT BRAKES/WEAKENS.

- ON BOARD TOOLS - LIGHTWEIGHT (UNTIL YOU TURN IT ON) - TELESCOPIC TOOL VERY HANDY - PICKS UP LARGER PIECES OF DEBRIS THAN MY PREVIOUS DYSON (DO04) WHICH IS VERY HANDY AS I HAVE CHILDREN AND A BIRD WHO LIKES TO LITTER MY FLOOR WITH SEEDS (WHICH MY PREVIOUS DYSON WOULD JUST PUSH AROUND THE CARPET AND I'D HAVE TO USE THE TOOLS).

- QUITE HEAVY BUT THIS IS ONLY DUE TO IT'S SUPER SUCTION ON THE CARPET. A LITTLE MORE PLASTICY THAN MY PREVIOUS DYSON. THE WAY THE STAIR WAND AND TELESCOPIC WAND TAKES A BIT OF GETTING USED TO, AS WELL AS EMPTYING THE QUICK RELEASE BIN - I EMPTIED IT ALL OVER MY FLOOR THE FIRST TIME! QUITE LOUD/NOISY
