What are the strengths?

Had mine for 3 weeks now and plenty of recording 2x channels and watching a third without fail.

FAN NOISE = NONE, don't let other reviews put you off. It was purchased with 1.00.14 software installed (the latest and deliberately to fix fan noise but this is also available as "over the air" (OTA) next week.
However, if I do place it on top of another unit (Amp, DVD player etc) instead of directly on my wooden shelf there is a very very low level hum. It is intermitent and you do have to listen hard for it. I am sure that if I had not read about noisy fans I would not have known it was there. That hum is fixed by a little "blue tack" or similar under the feet or, as I have done, place it directly on the shelf. I don't know how noisy / quiet it will be on metal or glass shelving.

Admittedly this is my first PVR but I am amazed by the simple application of this technology and it just works. That I am a PC nurd reminds me that it's a good job that Bill Gates' staff hasn't produced

What are the weaknesses?

Faults/criticism = None, unless like me you are disappointed that it's not a standard width (it's narrower) than all my other kit. Why have Humax done this? Did they really need to save the 50p instead of making a standard width chasis?
