The WaterRower A1 is hand crafted in solid Ash and features an aluminium monorail design. It's fitted with an A1 monitor, a simpler version of the WaterRower's S4 monitor, providing easy 'quick start' of most functions. Information displayed on the A1 monitor includes intensity in m/s (metres per second), mph (mile per hour), /500m (time per 500 metres), /2km (time per 2 kilometres), watts and calories per hour. It also shows stroke rate, heart rate (with optional heart rate attachment), distance in units of metres, kilometres, miles and total strokes and duration.
