Having used Dyson cylinder cleaners without any problems for the last 14 years, I bought this to replace my 8 year old DC02 - I wish I hadn't! I got it while it was on offer at a catalogue store at supposedly half price, but I now think that this reduction was because this machine is so awful to use. It's much lighter than the old DC02, with the many of the old metal parts seeming to have been replaced in plastic, but this actually makes it harder to use. It seems not to move smoothly when pulled along in use, but jerks along. The position of the hose at the base makes it awkward to move, it pushes dirt & fluff along my hard floors (on both head settings), and it won't sit on the stairs. But the very worst thing is that it makes a terrible, extremely loud whistling / screaming noise when in use, which has literally driven me mad! I've taken it all apart looking for the cause, but I can't find anything. Fortunately, my old Dyson still works so is now back in use, and the new one is in a dark cupboard on its own and out of my sight. Incidentally, I wrote to Dyson about six weeks ago and haven't had a reply - which makes me think that they know the problems with this model and are choosing to ignore it. Shame. |
