This lighter is excellent for lighting fires quickly and easily without the need for gas or fuel. All you have to do is scrape shavings from the relatively soft magnesium block (with the included file) into a pile about the size of a 5 pence piece. Next, you turn the block over to expose the edge that has an embedded sparking rod and scrape it with you file.
