Mediaplex Sales Engineer and Business Solutions
Department: Client Services – Business Solutions

Overview
The Mediaplex Sales Engineer and Business Solutions role is part of the Mediaplex Client Services Team.
- Business Solutions
You will collaborate with technical account managers to develop meaningful relationships with our strategically significant client accounts (advertisers/agencies). You will work across these accounts focusing on understanding their digital advertising objectives and operational challenges – drawing on your digital marketing experience and Mediaplex technology you will make recommendations on how to generate an increased return on their advertising spend in-line with each client’s business objectives. Success will be measured by account retention and revenue growth. This aspect of the role combines both technical and commercial skills with a strong client services focus. - Sales Engineer
You will collaborate with the Sales Director on new business opportunities. Your technical understanding will bring gravitas to the new business discussions enabling technical/operational questions to be answered on the spot. You will also be able to communicate, to VP/Director level, in a simple manner the sometimes subtle and complex differences between Mediaplex and competitor products and services. Your commercial awareness will enable you to understand what technology combinations would be of value to a prospect rather than just pushing product benefits.

Job Summary
Responsibilities
- New business revenue and client development.
- Create deliverables such as requirements documentation, presentations, proposals, and business models that address the customer's business, architectural and/or financial goals.
- Ongoing assessment of competitive matrix and maintain knowledge of emerging trends in technology.
- Work alongside the Technical Account Managers (client facing, strategic account managers) to develop a thorough understanding of clients' business goals and objectives. Recommend how Mediaplex technology can be deployed to support these objectives and meet these business goals. Draw on products/services/experience from across the ValueClick Group companies.
- Contribute to the Account Manager’s account strategies, limiting the risk of losing the business to competition and maximising the opportunity for revenue growth and technical integration/dependency.
- Develop relationships with senior personnel within client organizations and across the online industry.
- Actively pursue opportunities for case studies, press releases and industry awards entries to showcase technical solutions that cut client costs or generated margin in ROAS.
- Project manage the launch of new business, setting client expectations and ensuring a smooth and well communicated transition, perhaps from a competitor integration, with minimum impact on the ongoing client business.
- Work towards quarterly objectives and other valuable deliverables aligned with the Mediaplex company strategy.
- Understand the technology and services offered by other VCLK companies and how it might be integrated with adserving solutions. Up-sell, where appropriate, other VCLK products and services.
- Along with the other members of the MOJO Support Team provide phone and email support to the wider Mediaplex client base.
- New campaign and/or project implementations, technical issue resolution and client training either at clients’ offices or remotely via webinar.
- Document proposals for product development and communicate these to Product Management.
- Take learnings from pre-sales engagements and translate these into product development opportunities for the Product Management team.
- Support Product Management with structured testing of technical releases and custom adserver configurations.
- Equally strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Technical documentation writing and preparation of case studies to support the sales function.
- Work with Product Management to stay abreast of emerging products and with Account Managers to be aware of the latest implementations and solutions which might be re-purposed for a different client in another context.
- Special projects as assigned.
Academic Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of experience and education is required.
- A-levels or the equivalent combination of experience and education is required.
Experience and profile
- A proven track record in pre-sales.
- Minimum of 4 years direct client management with responsibility for retaining and growing revenue for assigned client accounts.
- Strong working knowledge of digital marketing (multi-channel ideally). Direct response/Brand, media buy models, research methodologies, behavioural, purchase cycle, lifetime value, ROI.
- Strong technical aptitude including competency in HTML, cookie technology, URL encoding and structures, tracking methodologies and attribution logic. Concepts such as protocols and web architecture.
- Extraordinary attention to detail and customer focus.
- Strong interpersonal skills and at ease taking a client out to lunch - ability to talk to clients about their business beyond the scope of MPLX services.
- Intellectual curiosity and confidence.
- Ability to analyze and interpret information from multiple data sources of initially uncertain reliability.

Job Summary

- Client Retention and Revenue Growth.
- Develop a thorough understanding of internal and external clients' business goals and objectives. Recommend how Mediaplex technology can be deployed to support these objectives and meet these business goals.
- Own the client relationship building both personal and professional rapport/credibility. Use this credibility to manage the strategic direction of the account, limiting the risk of losing the business to competition and maximising the opportunity for revenue growth and technical integration/dependency.
- Develop relationships with both Senior Management and operations staff within your clients' organizations.
- Actively pursue opportunities for case studies, press releases and industry awards entries to showcase technical solutions that cut client costs or generated margin in ROAS. Use these as currency for work done where strategically appropriate.
- Support the sales function with these case studies, press releases, industry awards and also client testimonials.
- Where appropriate accompany the sales team to pitch prospects in the capacity of sales engineer.
- Project manage the launch of new business, setting client expectations and ensuring a smooth and well communicated transition, perhaps from a competitor integration, with minimum impact on the ongoing client business.
- Work towards quarterly objectives, agreed with Head of Client Services, which fulfil on account strategies, deliver account growth targets and other valuable deliverables aligned with the Mediaplex company strategy.
- Take positive action to understand the technology and services offered by other VCLK companies. Up-sell, where appropriate, other VCLK products and services.
- Take new team members under your wing, buddy system as assigned by Head of Client Services, ensuring you provide structured training and daily support.
- Monitor and forecast account billings, absolutely and relative to agreed growth targets.
- Along with the other members of the MOJO Support Team provide phone and email support to the wider Mediaplex client base.

This might be a presentation to the most senior contact or a pre-sales demo to a technical contact.
