PriceRunner Your guide to find the best price on PriceRunner

Why should I use PriceRunner? What is PriceRunner?
PriceRunner is a free comparison service designed with the consumer in mind. Our aim is to give you the most comprehensive overview of the market and to help you compare products, prices and retailers in a completely unbiased environment. In addition you can read buying advice, view product images and read professional reviews before you make up your mind on what to buy. In short a one stop shop for buying products and services. However we don't actually sell any products ourselves.

We show prices from both online and traditional high street stores. Every day both manual and electronic data is collected from the high street and over night our sophisticated electronic software agent picks millions of prices from thousands online retailers. We show as many retailers as possible not just the ones who pay us for referrals to their site through direct links.

How do I find the best price?

Let’s say you are looking for at digital camera. At the homepage you can search for “digital camera” in our search box or browse through out the main categories under the search box. Digital cameras you will find by clicking at the category Photography. Two more clicks at “Digital Cameras” and “Show all Digital Cameras” and you will get a list of all the Digital Cameras on PriceRunner. Then click “Show prices” to see the list of retailers selling the product. The “Direct link” will take you directly to the product on the retailers page.

Our vision
Pricerunner.com is radically changing the way people buy. It is now possible to gain an overview of the full range of products on offer from a broad range of retailers selling in the UK. PriceRunner provides this service by offering independent price comparisons and detailed product information from online and traditional stores. In this way the consumer’s choice is greatly enhanced, with just a few clicks of a mouse!

PriceRunner lists retailers who pay for Enhanced Listings (graphic logos, direct links and a retailer message) and also retailers from whom we do not receive any remuneration. These ‘Free’ retailers are listed when we believe they are competitively priced and have a range of products. The PriceRunner ambition is to list as many retailers, products and prices as possible, but we can never guarantee that all prices and products are listed on PriceRunner, whether they be from ‘free’ or ‘paying’ retailers.

*PriceRunner do not make any claims as to the reputability or quality of the retailers we list, however we aim to list such retailers and will remove a retailer (paying or free) if we believe they are disreputable.

Kristofer Arwin, Martin Alexanderson and Magnus Wiberg together with Cell Ventures as financier started PriceRunner in July 1999. The Swedish site was launched in December 1999, with the UK following in September 2000. PriceRunner was acquired by ValueClick Inc. in August 2004.

PriceRunner is not owned by, or dependent upon, any manufacturer, retailer, or other organization that could have an interest in giving biased information in any way. PriceRunner is independent and objective.

Advertisements at PriceRunner
PriceRunner is partly financed through advertising, but it is important to emphasis that no editorial content is changed according to the wishes of the advertisers. Read more

PriceRunner makes it easier for the consumer through gathering all relevant product information to help you in reaching the right decision before buying. Retailers at PriceRunner, off-line or on-line, are included without charge.

Visitors to the PriceRunner homepage are an interesting target group. They are buyers – not just surfers. Most visitors are planning to spend but are perhaps undecided as to what to buy. This is a target group that‘s not easy to identify. These consumers are at the “Point of Sale" and open to influence. In traditional stores it is good practice to use in-store material and other kinds of sales promotions to influence consumers. Buying decisions are made at PriceRunner’s homepage; therefore consumers can be influenced here in the same way as in traditional stores, but at an even earlier stage.

Reviews, discussion groups, buying advice and guides are some of the services provided by PriceRunner, in addition to basic shopping comparisons. These additional services give added value to consumers and a positive attitude to PriceRunner. To advertise in this environment will result in positive associations.
