A superb picture, decent sound and extensive features make this a super set. If you’re searching for a mid-range Full HD Smart TV that won’t cost an arm and a leg then you might want to consider the Samsung UE32J6300. With a very decent screen, a Freeview tuner and PVR, this is one for the shortlist.
It may not have the pizazz of a 4K screen, but the curved UE32J6300 delivers a surprisingly punchy performance in Full HD (1080p). With some decent tech like Auto Depth Enhancer and Wide Colour Enhancer, you get some superb contrasts, vibrant, true-to-life colour rendition and a very satisfying level of sharpness. HD content is very clean and detailed, but the HD upscaler is also very effective, breathing new life into SD content. There’s very little motion blur across any resolution, but if you were to criticise you’d have to mention the unclear darker areas of the screen. Apart from that the display is very good.
The sound quality is acceptable without being particularly impressive. It’s pleasingly balanced but lacking some oomph, so will struggle to reproduce the excitement of the cinema experience. We’d recommend taking advantage of the digital audio out or HDMI ARC ports and connect a third party speaker or home cinema system.
The UE32J6300 is pretty fast with its quad-core processor, so channel hopping and browsing the electronic programme guide is painless. There are the usual Smart-TV features and a Freeview HD tuner so you not only get 85 subscription-free channels, but also some great streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Instant Video and the likes of BBC iPlayer. PVR is an excellent addition that allows you to pause live TV and record programmes directly to a USB storage device. There’s also two-way screen mirroring with a mobile device, and with four HDMI and three USB ports you have plenty of connections for your Blu-ray player, games console, soundbar and Skybox.
- Very good HD pictures
- Good connectivity
- Excellent array of features
- Slightly substandard sound
- No Smart TV remote
- 32 inches a bit small
Why you should buy it: UK buyers looking for a relatively inexpensive Full HD Smart TV should consider the UE32J6300. The picture is fantastic, the sound tolerable and there are plenty of great features such as Freeview, on-demand, and PVR. It may be small, but it’s got some bite.
